I made bagels last weekend, and they just ran out yesterday. I'm going through withdrawal here.
So chewy and fresh, with a little crunch in the boiled crust. Golden brown, and just big enough for a small sandwich - not the size of a tractor tire.
Modesty be damned, they were so good. And not because I made them necessarily, but just because they were homemade. And it wasn't all that hard or time consuming. I think I'm going to have another go this weekend. Ordered some malt powder and barley syrup online so I'll have all the right ingredients this time.
Michele, should I send you some?
